the token coach for Claude Code

Keep your context small.
Keep your cache warm.

Claugged reads your local Claude Code transcripts, grades your token hygiene A – F, and coaches you while you work — a fuel gauge for your context window, a countdown on your prompt cache, and plain-English fixes drawn from your own sessions.

what it does

Four screens, one habit change

Every message you send re-sends everything in the conversation so far. Claugged shows you that pile — and how to stop paying for it twice.

Hygiene grade

Every session scored A–F by seven deterministic rules — no AI, no guessing. Your overall score is weighted toward recent sessions, so better habits show up fast.

Sessions

Every past session across every project: tokens, peak context, cache hit ratio, estimated cost. Sort, filter, and drill into any single turn.

Live Coach

Watches the session you're running right now. The gauge fills as your context grows, the cache countdown ticks, and nudges fire before the expensive mistake — not after.

Learn

A plain-English field guide: how tokens and the prompt cache actually work, in sixty seconds, plus the exact command or habit that fixes each finding.

the rule library

Seven rules. All of them are two ideas.

Keep your context small, keep your cache warm. Each rule catches one way people accidentally do the opposite.

R1Cache-cold restart Starting fresh minutes after closing a session throws the prompt cache away. Resume instead.
R2Marathon session Past ~70% full, every reply drags the whole pile along. /compact at natural checkpoints.
R3Mega-paste A pasted log dump bloats every turn after it. Save it as a file and let Claude read it.
R4Never compacts /compact frees most of the window and keeps what matters. If you never use it, long sessions grind toward the limit at peak cost.
R5Cold-cache idling The cache expires after ~5 quiet minutes. A long lunch mid-session costs a full rebuild.
R6Kitchen-sink session One session for your whole day carries every earlier topic as dead weight. Unrelated task, new session.
R7No subagent use Big searches can run in a side conversation whose junk never lands in your context. Ask for a subagent.

privacy

Nothing leaves your machine.

Claugged reads one folder — the transcripts Claude Code already writes to your own profile — and analyzes them locally.

reads only → %USERPROFILE%\.claude\projects

No account

No sign-in, no API key, no license server. Download, run, done.

No telemetry

Your sessions, grades, and costs are computed and stored on your machine only.

No AI calls

Coaching is deterministic rules, not a model. Claugged never sends your transcripts anywhere.

The one network request it ever makes: checking for its own cryptographically signed updates at launch. That request carries nothing about you or your sessions.
